What we collect, and what we don't
This is short, because there is very little to say. That is the point.

What this covers. This page is about this website - lukaduka.life - and the waitlist form on it. The LukaDuka app is not open to the public yet. When it opens, it will have its own privacy policy covering how your memories are stored and protected, and we will publish it before anyone puts a single memory in.
Who we are
LukaDuka is built by LukaDuka Systems Limited, a New Zealand company. We are the ones collecting and holding anything described on this page.
What we collect
Your email address. That is the entire list.
We only get it if you type it into the waitlist box and press the button. Nothing is collected from you just for reading this site.
Giving us your email is entirely voluntary. If you would rather not, you can still read every page and try the demo - you simply will not hear from us when early access opens.
Why we collect it
To tell you when you can start your record. That is the only reason.
We will not use it to sell you anything else, and we will not send you a newsletter you did not ask for.
Who else sees it
We use Mailchimp (Intuit Mailchimp) to hold the waitlist and send the emails. Your address is stored on their servers, which are in the United States. That means it leaves New Zealand.
We do not sell, rent, trade or share your email address with anyone else. Not now, not ever.
What we do not do
- No tracking. This site has no analytics, no advertising pixels, and no third-party trackers.
- No cookies. Reading this site sets nothing on your device.
- No fonts loaded from elsewhere. The typefaces are served from our own site, so your visit is not reported to a third party just to draw the letters.
- No profiles. We do not build a picture of who you are, where you have been, or what you looked at.
The one exception: when you press Join waitlist, your browser contacts Mailchimp to add you. That is the only outside connection this site makes, and it only happens because you chose to make it.
How long we keep it
Until early access opens and we have been in touch, or until you ask us to remove you - whichever comes first. If the waitlist is ever abandoned, we delete it.
Your choices
- Leave the list. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. One click, no questions, no "are you sure".
- See what we hold. Ask us and we will tell you. It will be your email address and the date you joined.
- Correct it. Wrong address, or changed it? Tell us and we will fix it.
- Have it deleted. Ask, and it goes. We will confirm when it is done.
These are your rights under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. If you are reading this from the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have equivalent rights under the GDPR, and we will honour them the same way. Wherever you are, the answer is the same: ask, and we will do it.
If something goes wrong
If we ever get this wrong, tell us first and we will put it right. If you are not satisfied with how we handle it, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner in New Zealand, or to your local data protection authority if you are overseas.
Changes to this page
If we change what we collect or who sees it, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant and you are on the waitlist, we will email you about it rather than quietly editing the page.
